E8Z have just released a beta version of The Endless Forest, a virtual place where you can play with your friends. There are no goals to achieve or rules to follow. You just steer your deer through the forest and see what happens...

theatre of restless automata

Last night artists Vicky Isley and Paul Smith aka boredomresearch opened their exhibition, theatre of restless automata, at http - furtherfield's gallery space in North London.

The pieces on show are really beautiful, particularly the 4 'biome systems', a series of wall mounted computers and screens, portals into a universe of highly complex digital automata that swarm and evolve, as they swim in and out of view. The simplicity of the work contrasts with the compexity of these alluring creatures, pulsing with colour and emitting a glissando of electronic noises

The all new furthernoise site is finally up and running, after many hours of work by Andy Forbes and Roger Mills. Check out the new reviews and download the first release from the furthernoise net label, Explorations in Sound. The net release features a new CD packaging design I've developed for the label, folded from a single A4 printout.

dirge is back

A year has passed since I was last able to update dirge, after the major hack on our server last year that left furtherfield and sister projects in a state of disarray. As if to add insult to injury, the server's hard drive subsequently crashed shortly after we'd managed to get everything working again but thankfully we're back with avengeance.. I'm busy working on a new version of visitors studio and the new issue of furthernoise will be online soon, a major update which runs on a bespoke content management system designed by artist and programmer Andy Forbes.
